/How do I maintain my shoe?
Nothing should interfere with the contact between the sole and the rolling base for optimal attachment (gravel stuck in the sole or in the housings, chewing gum, clumps of tar). If necessary, use the release key to scrape off impurities and clean the sole with a damp cloth.
Cleanliness: use a damp cloth for the cotton part and gently clean the suede part with an appropriate product. Let your shoes air dry as often as possible. Do not put them in the washing machine or dryer.
Avoid placing the shoe near a heat source that is too high, as it could damage its materials during a rapid drying process. The sole should never come into contact with solvents (Acetone, Petroleum, Gasoline...), as this may cause irreversible damage to the product.
/How do I maintain my wheels, bearings and cushions?
Check that there are no chips or flat spots on the wheels to maintain your skating comfort. Swap your wheels around on your trucks to increase their longevity. To do this, get a 13 mm socket wrench and unscrew the nut that holds the wheel on the truck. Remove the wheel and replace it with another one. Be careful to put the wheel back on in the correct direction (the rounded part of the wheel facing outward) and tighten the nut once the wheel is in place. If needed, lookour Slades tutorialfor more information. Remove any roughness on the shoe or the rolling part resulting from wear. The cushions do not need to be changed regularly.
If you skate very often, clean and change your bearings regularly. Skating in the rain damages the bearings, and it is not recommended to do so.
It is possible to adjust the movement of the trucks and thus customize the feel and response of the boards. Tightening the trucks improves stability and increases power. Loosening the trucks increases maneuverability.
/How do I maintain the system and chassis?
The mechanical system (rear hooks) should neither be oiled nor greased (products like WD40). These greasy products will clump dirt and clog the system, potentially causing it to jam. Prefer a soft cloth to remove dust or a dusting spray. The bearings are the only components of the product that can be lubricated.
The chassis can also be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth.
