HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR ROLLER SKATES?
Many types of roller skates exist: some for freestyle, racing, dancing, urban commuting, or leisure. Therefore, it can be tricky to find the right tips or products to maintain your skates. At Flaneurz, we love taking care of the equipment and we explain to you how, whether they are detachable or not....
/SOME BASICS FOR ROLLER MAINTENANCE
For roller maintenance to be effective, it must be regular. Do not leave your skates in a closed space, a bag, a trunk, or a garage after a session. Check and clean your equipment every 5 to 10 outings, or more frequently if conditions are particular (sand, water...).
/MAINTENANCE OF ROLLERBLADES BASED ON COMPONENTS
The shoe
perspiration creates bacteria, let your shoes dry in a dry place. Unlace the footwear, open up the structure of the boots or shoes by pulling out the tongue. If necessary, fill it with newspaper to absorb moisture. To prevent odors and the proliferation of bacteria, there are specific products to spray..
The brakes
To extend the usage duration of your breaks or your jam plugs (or front pads), turn them regularly so that they wear evenly.
The wheels
For inline skates, we recommend swapping them from the right skate to the left skate. For quads, our advice is to cross them in addition to changing the skates. The rubber that makes up the wheels wears down and takes on a beveled shape depending on its position and your skating technique: by interchanging the wheels, you maintain the symmetry of their profile. Additionally, you can dust them off using a toothbrush..
The bearings
They can deteriorate, especially if you ride on wet or uneven surfaces. Clean them regularly with WD40 or a similar product. Then, lubricate them with oil. (Tempish bearing oil) or suitable fat (Belleville bearing grease PERFECT). Be careful not to grease them too much, as the product may promote dust adhesion..

/ The turntables
Use a damp sponge and wipe with a cloth. A toothbrush can be helpful for reaching hard-to-access areas. Frequently check the condition of the screw heads before going roller skating.
/PRODUCTS FOR ROLLER MAINTENANCE

Shoe goo
Clear or colored glue, it was originally used by the skateboarding community. It helps maintain damaged sneakers and is essential for the upkeep of freestyle roller skates. Shoe goo helps reinforce the shell (for inline skates), repair the boot or shoe. It protects against premature wear and allows you to rebuild the soles of your skates..
Lubrifiant Speed Elixir (EOSkates)
Highly versatile dry film lubricant reinforced with Teflon®, it helps prevent friction and dirt on bearings. In addition to its cleaning properties, it reduces the risks of rust and corrosion.

The plate
Clean the grip using a soft shoe or toothbrush and a little water. Be careful not to use them too intensely, as the grip may come off.
The rooms Topy
This piece of caoutchouc The parts glued (using a 3M bi-material metal/plastic adhesive) to the mechanical system under your shoe do not have a technical function: if they wear out, it does not affect walking or skating in any way. Their function is aesthetic, as they help reduce the clicking sound you may hear when your foot is in contact with the ground.
Shoes
Machine washing is not recommended as it can damage the leather. The heat from the machine reactivates the adhesives and may deform the shoe (and thus the Flaneurz system). Clean the outer part of the shoe using a stiff-bristle brush or a damp cloth. You can add a bit of dish soap. Then, let the shoe dry naturally by stuffing it with newspaper. Tumble dryers and radiators are also discouraged for the same reasons as machine washing.
In order to maintain the original shape of your shoes, you can purchase shoe trees..

/TO MAINTAIN WHITE LEATHER SNEAKERS (ex : Fila Cage Socks - White)
If there are stains on your sneakers, clean them with water, dish soap, and white vinegar. You can also use white toothpaste and a paste made from baking soda. In case of dirt, gently dab a cloth soaked in 90° alcohol and rinse with water immediately. A clean school eraser and makeup remover can also help restore shine. For more effectiveness or to perfect the cleaning, use white shoe polish for sneakers or leather shoes.

/FOR THE BLACK SHOES (ex : Dr Martens Cavendish - Black Temperley)
Apply a nourishing cream if the shoe is made of leather, and leave it to work for about 12 hours: this will hydrate the leather and prevent cracks (which can appear over time). Then, wipe off any excess with a dry cloth. Use black shoe polish to maintain the shine of the color. It is recommended to apply it with a palot brush once the shoe is clean.
