INTERVIEW WITH AMANDINE ETELAGE

With the arrival of spring, the conditions are ideal for roller sports. Amandine Etelage, our new ambassador excelling brilliantly in the world of roller dance, answers our questions between two photos..

 

/FROM DANCE TO ROLLER

 

/Tell us a little about yourself, what roller sport do you practice and how did this passion come about?

I grew up in Réunion and moved to the mainland for my studies. Today, I am a choreographic artist. Regarding roller sports, my specialty is roller dance. I promote this discipline in France through the association. Miss’ile, dont I am the vice president.

I started my career at 22 with the purchase of a pair of inline skates to get to my classical dance classes. As a side note, it’s the president of the association Miss’ile, participating in the same class as me, who introduced me to roller dance. Shortly after, I bought my first pair of quad rollers: white boots mounted with Hawaï Surf. Three weeks later, I was performing on the esplanade of the Trocadéro during the PSWC (2010). 

In addition to roller sports, I have also tried different disciplines such as slalom, touring, downhill, and skatecross. I also participated in speed competitions like the 24 Hours of Le Mans Roller in 2010..

/How do you experience roller sports?

I am fortunate to be able to live off my passions, dance and roller skating, through two main activities: teaching and artistic creation.

Since 2010, I have been teaching roller dance classes for the association Miss'ile, then I obtained my BIF(Federal Initiator Certificate) roller and my CQP (Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle). I also perform with SkateXpress.

I also sometimes appear in films, television shows, or videos. My latest shoot is the music video « Paradise » of the group Ofenback. Roller skating has become an essential part of my life.

/How did you come to know Flaneurz? What does the status of ambassador represent?

I met Flaneurz through Florian during the campaign Kickstarter. I was also following the first ambassadors on social media : Jean Marc, Poupa et Laurence. I was immediately captivated. I instantly understood the benefit of the product for roller sports: no more wasting time putting on and taking off my skates at the beginning and end of class. I save time and travel lighter for all my transportation.

I have always wanted to be an ambassador. I am thrilled to join the ambassadors. I felt accepted in the Clique, recognized and legitimate in the quad roller community. I am happy to be part of this beautiful family!

/How do you use your Flaneurz in your daily life?

I use my Flaneurz during my roller dance classes and training sessions. It's the first time I've had high-quality equipment, and I can feel the difference. I've progressed instantly by gaining precision, range, and speed of movement. With the Flaneurz skates, my potential for progress is greater. I can perform tricks that were complicated with traditional boots. I have more dexterity for roller sports!

Since I can unclip my shoes in 3 seconds, I feel like a "superhero" and I will soon be doing some Change Your Shoes.
