Poupa is a self-taught and multidisciplinary skater who was the jammer for the French roller derby team and then the coach of the roller derby team of Lutèce Destroyeuses. With daily use, Poupa is the perfect ambassador to convey his passion for quad skating and share the world of the flâneur.
/A PASSION ON FOUR WHEELS
/Tell us a little about yourself, how did this passion for roller skating come about?
I discovered this sport when my parents bought me quad skates when I was little. I remember that I could take my pair to school, and so during every recess, my friends and I would skate in the yard. As I grew up, I continued to practice by going roller skating with my friends after school. I was even lucky enough to have a ramp near my house!
Now, I practice several disciplines: derby, street, park, but I also regularly go hiking and more recently, I started roller dance. That’s what I love about roller skating, being able to switch from one discipline to another.
/You give roller skating lessons regularly, what advice would you give to someone starting roller skating?
Everything will depend on the person's age. For example, I advise people over thirty to take lessons with someone experienced, through a club or an association, to avoid any risk of injury. This will also help to stay motivated, as it takes a bit longer to learn a sport like roller skating when we are no longer children without fears of getting hurt..
Otherwise, more generally, the best advice I can give is simply to practice as much as possible!

/How to combine rollerblading and daily urban commuting?
Many people use roller skates for their daily commutes, such as going to work. I, on the other hand, prefer to keep my roller skates for leisure activities. This means that it allows me to skate without constraints, to move from one spot to another, and to be able to clip or unclip my rolling parts according to my current desires..
/What does being a Flaneurz ambassador mean to you?
It is above all an opportunity! When Florian came to see me to propose that I become an ambassador for Flaneurz, I immediately said yes. It allowed me to take part in an innovative project and to make enriching connections..
Moreover, being able to try out the new Flaneurz products and test different setups is something unique. Thanks to my role as an ambassador, I feel invested in the development of the start-up. For example, recently I tested a grinder setup on the rolling parts of my Top Ten to go skateboarding.
Often present at our events such as the Roller Week or even our evening in collaboration with Reebok Classic for the release of our new collection Capsule, Poupa accompanies you in your first moments on roller skates. Many of you have already benefited from their valuable advice and have been able to skate alongside them.
