MAKE FLANEURZ GREEN AGAIN

This year, we are not participating in Black Friday to be more in line with our values. We have joined the collective Make Friday Green Again, that is why we do not offer Flaneurz promotions.

/THE ORIGIN OF BLACK FRIDAY

Black Friday (the black Friday) corresponds to the last Friday of November. It is a day of massive sales that marks the beginning of holiday shopping. 

/UNE TRADITION AMÉRICAINE IMPORTÉE TARDIVEMENT E​N FRANCE ​ 

In the United States, Thanksgiving takes place on the last Thursday of November. Since this day is a holiday, taking a day off the following day allows for a four-day weekend. In the 1960s, retailers offered discounted prices to revitalize their economy. In the 2010s, this trend established itself in France, although we do not have a long weekend.

/PENSER NOTRE CONSOMMATION  

The new ways of consuming more responsibly go against massive sales, such as those during Black Friday. The very short duration of the event encourages compulsive buying. However, overconsumption, especially when done at low cost, promotes waste.. 

It is not about blaming consumers or businesses, but about questioning ourselves and acting accordingly. Flaneurz has therefore adapted its commercial policy. There will be no promotions at Flaneurz on Friday, November 27.

Flaneurz has participated in Black Friday for several years without offering any promotions, but by giving a gift with every order. However, Black Friday goes against our values and actions for the rest of the year.

Flaneurz offers a non-polluting urban transportation. During the production of our detachable rollers, we prioritize short supply chains. Our packaging is fully recyclable. 

We work with providers who share the same mindset as us, such as VEJA. Part of the operations is also subcontracted to an ESAT (a company employing disabled workers in the 93), creating or sustaining jobs indirectly.

/CONSOMMER MOINS, MAIS MIEUX  

In order to avoid contributing to overconsumption, we designed your detachable rollers so that you can use the same rolling part under your different shoes, rather than multiplying the purchase of complete skates. Throughout the year, you won't see promotions at Flaneurz. We sell our products at a fair price and stable throughout the year. Furthermore, we offer collections that are indeed seasonal but never go out of style. Thus, we do not have stock to clear out.

For Flaneurz, joining the Make Friday Green Again collective makes perfect sense alongside more than 1100 other French brands. We are committed to not offering promotions at Flaneurz. Through our social media and our newsletter, we encourage you to adopt healthier consumption habits and behaviors. 

All team members feel concerned about the environmental and societal impact of this new way of consuming. And thanks to you, our community, our impact is growing.
